Communication Statuses

Overview

This section outlines the different statuses for email, SMS, and voice messages in SchoolEngage, providing insights into the meaning behind each status.

Email Statuses

Triggered

The system has received the email request and started processing it, but it has not yet forwarded any request to the messaging service.

Queued

The email has been processed and sent to the messaging service.

Processed

The email has been processed by the messaging service but not yet sent.

Scheduled

The email has been scheduled to be sent at a later time.

Deferred

The recipient's email server has temporarily delayed the email. The messaging service will continue to try to deliver the message for up to 72 hours.

Bounced

The email couldn't be delivered, often due to incorrect email addresses.

Delivered

The email has reached the recipient's server but not necessarily their inbox.

Opened

The recipient has opened the email.

Unsubscribed

The recipient opted out of future emails.

Marked as Spam

The email was flagged as spam by the recipient or their email service.


SMS Statuses

Triggered

The system has received the SMS request and started processing it, but it has not yet forwarded any request to the messaging service.

Queued

The SMS has been processed and sent to the messaging service.

Sending

The messaging service is in the process of sending the SMS.

Sent

The SMS has been sent to the recipient’s carrier.

Delivered

The carrier confirms delivery to the recipient.

Undelivered

Delivery failed due to reasons like an off phone, invalid number, or carrier error.

Failed/Dropped

Sending failed before reaching the carrier, possibly due to wrong number format or account issues.

Received

Incoming SMS received by your service number.


Voice Message Statuses

Triggered

The system has received the message request and started processing it, but it has not yet forwarded any request to the messaging service.

Queued

The message has been processed and sent to the messaging service.

Initiated

The messaging service has begun processing the call.

Ringing

The recipient's phone is ringing.

Busy

The recipient is on another call.

Absent

The recipient didn’t answer.

Failed

The call couldn’t be completed as dialed.

Answered

The recipient picked up the call.

Completed

The call was successfully made to the recipient.
