Map areas allow boundaries, uploading by the division, to be incorporated into forms. These boundaries can be uploaded as Shapefiles (.shp) for Keyhole Markup Language files (.kml).

To upload a collection of boundaries, you must first create a boundary group. To do so, in the “Map Areas” section of SchoolEngage, click the Create “Create” button and enter a name for the boundary group. Depending on your circumstances and the data available, it may be a good idea to name the group based on the school year you’ll be using it for.

Once a boundary has been uploaded, you may need to rename it if the system is unable to detect the name of the boundary. Any uploaded boundaries should be verified to ensure that the system has read them correctly. This can be done by hitting the “Toggle Preview” button on each boundary and double checking the mapped area. It should appear similarly to the image below for a boundary representing the province of Alberta.
