Map areas allow boundaries, uploading by the division, to be incorporated into forms. These boundaries can be uploaded as Shapefiles (.shp) for Keyhole Markup Language files (.kml).

Once a boundary has been uploaded, you may need to rename it if the system is unable to detect the name of the boundary. Any uploaded boundaries should be verified to ensure that the system has read them correctly. This can be done by hitting the “Toggle Preview” button on each boundary and double checking the mapped area. It should appear similarly to the image below for a boundary representing the province of Alberta.

  1. Go to My Maps.

  2. Create a new map.

  3. Add boundaries to your map.

    1. In your map, click the “Draw a line → Add line or shape” button and enclose your boundary on the map.

    2. Repeat for every boundary that you need to add.

    3. You map should look similar to the below image:

  4. Export your newly created boundaries.

    1. Click the three dots next to the Layer title (*Edmonton Maps” in the above screenshot)

    2. Go to “Export Data → KML/KMZ”

    3. Select the Export as KML option and click Download

  5. You’ll now have a file that you can upload to SchoolEngage.
